Anneli Hällgren/ Sweden….December 2019:

Meditation twice a day together with experienced and most friendly Karen Sivan is a treat on any holiday. Wether you are a regular meditator or not, it adds a dimension when sittning with likemindeds, and it gives your leisure day a welcome structur. I also had the breakfast package – lovely fruitsallad to start off the day!

“Family Yoga holiday in Kerala”

This yoga experience was by far the highlight of our first trip to India. Karen made everything incredibly easy, right from the first mails, organising a taxi to meet us at the airport, arranging trips during the day and coming with us on some of them, and then booking trains for our onward journey. It was just the right mix of time to be together as a family and time to do yoga and meditation together and day trips to places we wouldn’t have gone to if it hadn’t been for Karen and Shivan. The food was lovely and they even catered for our son (with Down’s Syndrome) who was a little nervous about spicy food. The early morning meditation and yoga on the rooftop surrounded by coconut palms, monkeys, birds and the sound of waves on the beach is something that none of us will forget! Sometimes other people joined us for the sessions and Shivan was always able to adapt the sessions to different levels of experience. Our son initially refused to join in, falling asleep on his mat but was soon encouraged to take part and loved it. This was a perfect Christmas reunion for our family of 5 – our children are 28, 26 and 24 – all sharing new and exciting experiences together and I would thoroughly recommend it both for families, singles and groups. Very friendly and Karen and Shivan go out of their way to make the holiday perfect.

I stayed at Hin Kin during the off season in June for 5 days and was fortunate to be the only guess there at the time. This place was just what I needed, On meeting Karen I found that she was so welcoming and caring and felt an instant connection. I loved the quite surroundings and waking up to the sound of the waves coming from Pachaloor beach or the music from the temple near by, I enjoyed morning meditation and yoga followed by Karens world famous fruit salad 🙂 and the divine massage included was just the icing on the cake for this wonderful place. Karen and Sivan are happy to share their wealth of knowledge on the local area which you can easily access by bus or auto rickshaw. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I can not recommend HinKin more highly and will definitely be back next year. It truly is paradise.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with Karen and Sivan at Kin-Hin centre. I was the only guest for most of the time but even though I’d been hoping to meet people, it was perfect – Karen and Sivan are great company and I had private classes, plus a say in what we had for dinner each night! It was easy to get into Kovalam for lunch each day and Karen and Sivan went out of their way to make me feel comfortable – the little details make a big difference. I would definitely recommend staying here.”

“I loved the stay with Karen and Shivan. Their home and our room was beautifully presented with a great outlook over the lush surrounding forest and local community. Access to kovallam was easy by walking a short stroll through the village to the main road where a tuk tuk was always available. The home was certainly away from the touristy pace that kovallam offered. Karen’s sunrise and sunset meditation was a true panacea for us, and as a novice, it provided me with insight into benefits and further understandings of the practice. Karen is so genuine and authentic about her practice without any pretense or judgment. It doesn’t seem to matter what level or understanding you might have, there would be something to be gained by sitting with Karen. The twice daily yoga with Shivan was tailored to our level in order to provide strength and resilience over the 5 days. Once again delivered in a casual and welcoming way. The focus on breathing, balance and postures improved over the course as did my muscle strength without pain or injury. Overall an enjoyable and recommendable stay.”

If you are looking for a piece of zen paradise, Kin Hin Center is the place for you. We booked a 5 days meditation and yoga retreat at the center and it was one of the highpoints of our trip to India. The center is well located in the peaceful village of Pachaloor, just minutes away from busy Trivandrum and touristy Kovalam Beach, Our room was lovely: clean and zen, big enough for our backpackers’ needs, with access to a private balcony to chill out.

Our host Karen lead our meditation sessions on the roof: we were surrounded by palm trees and could hear birds, nearby ocean waves and occasionally, neighbourhood temple music. Hatha yoga session followed with teacher Sivan, who gently but firmly pushed us to our limits through a strong yoga routine, with just enough variety positions to keep us captivated. One session was also interrupted by monkeys passing by, in the street.

Breakfast and dinner were taken at the center at the couple’s table or balcony. We got the chance of tasting Karen’s EPIC world famous fruit salad, as well as local food cooked at home, while chatting with our hosts about the region, local traditions, travelers tips, etc. They made us feel right at home with theIR generosity and warmth.

I stayed at the Kin Hin centre with a friend in the beginning of April (2016) for about 5 days. I really liked the quiet and the peace of this very open centre, with a gentle rhythm of morning meditation, morning yoga and evening meditation. The guest rooms are clean and spacious and pleasant, there is a nice outside balcony, and Karen’s fruit salads for breakfast are delicious. Karen and Sivan are not only great teachers but they are also very happy to help you organise small excursions in the area. Both Trivandrum and Kovalam beach are within a short bus or rickshaw ride. Trivandrum Zoo is since The life of Pi on everybody’s list!
I liked Kin Hin very much as it is a base from where to further explore if you want, or a nice place to be, which has a soul with its relaxed schedule and positive outlook on life. I certainly got what I was looking for and hope to go back!

My stay at Kin Hin Zen centre with Karen was a highlight of my first ever trip to India – it was unique comfortable and Karen was the best host. We had a ball and our “trip to the tip” was an unforgettable experience of sheer wonder and delight. I cannot thank Karen enough for her friendly open hospitality and to receive daily aromatherapy massages and meditation was sublime! I highly recommend spending some time at this delightful haven.

Kin Hin is comfortable friendly meditation place, with Karen as helpful guide,& Shivan as (optional)yoga instructor. Away from crowds, but near beaches, under coconut palm trees which the birds like: so be prepared for early awakenings sometimes, if staying there! I got to know a small group of daily meditators,& aim to return before too long.

Kin Zen Centre is beautifully located under huge trees providing nice shade. It’s close to the sand beach and in walking distance to shopping facilities. The place is calm, clean and convivial. Karen is a helpful and caring host. As a resident you can get all necessary information you might need for your trip through India. You will be woken up every morning by the beautiful voices of the birds living around the house. Enjoy meditation during your stay. I can highly recommend this guest house to everyone. You won’t regret being there. Even if you will be there only for a short stay.

We had an enjoyable relaxing holiday and we have learnt so much during the trip, especially at your centre with you and Sivan that we are taking things slow and comparatively more relaxed than before we started the holidays. We had such a wonderful stay at your place and thank you for your hospitality and kindness.

Meditating early morning on the rooftop, surrounded by birds, craws and the soft sweeping of many brooms in the village – eating fresh fruit salad on the terrace, having a nice little chat with Karen – walking to a quiet little beach with shady palm trees – looking forward to get a competent and relaxing massage from Karen – reading and sleeping a little – planning trips into the surrounding nature and visit old temples – in the evening eating fresh fish in front of the sea, enjoying the purple sunset – dreaming of coming back again as soon as possible. This and much more is Kin-hin-Centre.
